31 days. 31 Women. 31 Profiles of Success: Melinda Watts of G.L.A.M. Camp For Girls, Inc

An overnight leadership and empowerment camp to ignite passion in their communities and make a change in their world is what our next profile of success, Melinda Watts of G.L.A.M. Camp For Girls, Inc. offers girls ages 12-18.

Sacred Rebel: How does spirituality play a role in the vision for Glam Camp?

Melinda Watts: Spirituality plays a big part in the vision for Glam Camp. We are a faith based organizations that focuses on empowering girls to be leaders in their communities and their schools. We want them to take their faith and become  the arms and feet of Jesus! It’s about impact and not about appearance. Our motto is to Love Loud and Lead Well.

SR: Your events are a “No Hate / No Gossip “ zone. Tell us a little bit more about that.

MW: We want girls to have a safe space to come and share their hearts and whatever issues they may be facing. We really make sure that the environment to share is gossip free and that it’s a place where girls can be themselves no matter what differences separate them. It’s a beautiful thing to witness girls from all different walks of life be embraced and supported.

SR: What advice would you like to offer to women on their journey to build their empires?

MW: I would say don’t be afraid to try new things! I used to be a woman who was stuck inside a box but I have learned that taking risks and trying out new ways of doing things is apart of the journey! Don’t limit yourself to the same things all of the time!

SR: What’s next for you and your business?

MW: Up next we are going to be hosting our annual GLAM Camps on both the East and West Coasts! We are excited to see girls from all over join us at these events. We are also expanding into more inspirational projects for girls and young women. We really want to be a hub for young women to plug into that is positive and full of life! There are enough negative outlets out there and we want to be one that speaks life to young women everywhere!

Follow them on Instagram and Twitter or check out their online shop. My fave of the bunch is the “I am enough” ring,
