Chicago native and former student of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Jazell Smith, has a habit of using bright colors and bold patterns to celebrate the style of African American women. Smith’s Summer 2016 Collection does just that and more. This collection is said to set the bar from her past collections as it reflects the strong, bold, and unique characteristics of an alter ego, Black Warrior Princess- Beauty, Power, Pride, and Strength.
J. Smith’s customers received the chance to experience the new collection on May 28th at the headquarters of African International House located in the art gallery of Harris Park. Jumpsuits, pants, shorts, and dresses created with the finest Kente and Ankara prints, graced the runway for the first time on models of all sizes, shapes, and ages.
To put the icing on the fashion cake… the exquisitely hand-crafted accessories! You can thank the owner of Twisted Rose Metal, Ledetria Warren, for that. Twisted Rose Metal is a jewelry and accessory brand that celebrates African Heritage and talent. Her merchandise can be found in 7 boutiques and online stores in Chicago, Indiana, and Florida.
All of the pieces were very beautiful and eye catching. Not to mention, perfect for all of your summer events for both day and night. Be sure to check out BLKLST to order apparel and Twisted Rose Metal to get the perfect accessories to match.
