This month we are celebrating National Women’s Small Business Month as well as recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. I found no better way to commemorate both, than to introduce you to Elena Mills of Beyond the Tears. She is it’s founder and CEO and is beyond passionate about the mission of her new foundation, “to provide community awareness and prevention on social issues, leadership development, and scholarships/resources for those in need.”
“It was the first time I saw a gun and it was to my mother’s hand. ‘Whip one of them or I’ll kill you’ were the words that she said. So I took the blame and the pain. It was pain I’d never felt before. But I had spared my mother’s life, so maybe it wouldn’t happen anymore.”
These words struck my heart and made me see this young woman in an entirely different light.
Elena Mills is a purpose-driven millennial proving that the cycle of domestic violence and abuse can be broken. She’s shared her story through different outlets, such as the Purple Balloon Project and various mentorship programs. Mills is avidly working to make sure that she helps to break the chains of domestic violence, and cancels the consequences of the cycle.
So as you can see this Empirelista is not only on the rise, but she is also on a mission! Be sure to subscribe to be the first to know about Beyond The Tears updates and support the progress on Facebook and Instagram.
